The School Compost & Recycling Action Plan Institute, also known as “SCRAPI”, is an institute working to assist students in Vermont on learning about sustainability, the tools they require, and devising action plans to work on reducing waste created in schools. As reported by NBC5 News, this program will provide a minimum of $3000 for their project that has sustainability in mind or a sustainable related goal.
This goal can range from working towards an enhanced composting program, working towards improvements on their recycling program(s), working at implementing a correct means of collecting and disposing hazardous waste materials, any subject with sustainability in mind.
In addition to funding, mentorship is also available within the program to help students in achieving their sustainability goals! It truly is a great opportunity for students to learn and improve their own sustainability efforts as well as locals in their community to learn more as well. Perhaps this program, and its initiatives, can help encourage and enhance other programs as well!
